Robert Rhys has spent the majority of his working life in the West Country. He has accumulated many years post qualification experience as an agricultural and rural practice chartered surveyor and land agent.

 

Robert studied rural estate management at the Royal Agricultural College (since 2013 a University), Cirencester, in the early 1980s. Following a period of time working on farms in Australia and New Zealand and travelling across America, Robert initially worked in Essex and then returned to the South West to pursue his career.  Since qualification with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1990, and fellowship of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers in 1992, he continued to build up his experience with a firm of chartered surveyors in Somerset.


After a period of employment in Cheshire, Robert set up his land agency practice in 2000.  Having commenced from his then home, he took a lease of a converted farm premises in 2002. Subsequently a redundant building was acquired in the village of Charlton Mackrell near Somerton which he converted for offices use in 2005.

 

Between 2007 and 2020 Robert represented the Western Counties branch of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers on the association’s Council joining the CAAV’s Property Committee in 2008 and becoming it’s Chairman in 2011 for nine years. During 2015/16 Robert served as Chairman of the Western Counties Agricultural Valuers Association. Since 2022 Robert has been the Chief Examiner for CAAV’s Western Counties and Cornish Examination Centre.

 

Robert is married with two children and enjoys country pursuits.

The client base has gradually been built up over the years with regular repeat business as part of a long term relationship with clients.
